“Many digital transformation programmes fail because leaders lack evidence-based frameworks to guide decisions”

Joseph Edwin, Senior Partner at Bain & Company, has spent over 25 years in the banking industry with a focus on digital and technology topics. He has an extensive experience in setting technology vision, defining technology strategy, managing technology and vendor sourcing, delivering transformative change, efficiencies and sustainable multi-million dollar cost savings and business momentum.

During his career, Joseph has observed the gap between academic theory and what practitioners experience. “Many digital transformation programmes fail because leaders lack evidence-based frameworks to guide decisions”, he notes, adding that collaboration between academia and industry on digital transformation has not been as deep as it could be. CDBG can “fill this void by producing research that is rigorous and based on real industry experience and therefore credible and practical enough to be utilised by practitioners”.

Having worked across both banking technology transformations and strategy consulting, Joseph brings a unique practitioner and advisor lens to CDBG, that reflects how digital transformation plays out across different markets and regulatory environments. It is a perspective he hopes will contribute to making CDBG “a candid, evidence-driven forum where practitioners and researchers genuinely challenge each other”.
