“Technology alone does not create growth”

Carmen Ene is the CEO of BNP Paribas 3 Step IT, a leading European provider of circular technology management. Under her leadership, the company grew by 70% and, in 2019, entered a strategic joint venture with BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions, which now operates in 11 European countries, manages over 2.5 million devices, and helps businesses reduce e-waste and embrace more sustainable IT practices.

With over two decades of experience in IT and finance, Carmen has witnessed several waves of technology change, from enterprise computing and global digitalisation to today’s data and AI-driven transformation. Years of experience has shaped a clear view for her: “sustainable growth comes from understanding how technology, business models, leadership, and customer needs come together”, and that technology alone does not create growth. For this reason, she believes that the Center for Digital Business Growth is important. “It [CDBG] creates a platform where research and real-world business experience can meet, helping organisations navigate complex digital transformations and turn innovation into long-term value.”

For Carmen, learning is a lifelong pursuit regardless of career stage. CDBG offers the chance to engage with leading researchers, business leaders, and future innovators, while also challenging her own thinking. “I believe the best ideas emerge when different perspectives meet. I look forward to sharing lessons learned while learning from others within the community.”
